Go For It! NIGHTS Short Film Pre-Production

Hey everyone,

So I haven't released anything in awhile only because I realized sometimes I can't force inspiration. But I sure can try to create it. For the past couple months I've been working on a EP entitled NIGHTS. The inspiration to NIGHTS was my love for aimlessly driving and looking at beautiful scenery. It's my escape from reality. Have you ever put on a record that just set the mood and just drive or listen to a song that just made you want to drop whatever you're doing and go on an adventure. Well that's what this EP is to me. It's about the music I'm inspired to listen to while going out on adventures and escaping my day to day life. So simple enough concept to make an EP but I couldn't get the inspiration to write. I realized I was working a lot at my dead end job and it was becoming stressfull. I haven't really been out on any adventures lately because I haven't made time for it. I've been so stagnent trying to finish this EP that I realized that I was approaching it all the wrong way. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks too and it came from a dream.

But before I talk about the dream, the first thing that came to my mind was that I love film and filmmaking. I've made short films for myself before and I thought maybe I should start doing it again. Also when I have a film in front of me, I automatically start thinking of music that will go well with it. BOOM! I've created a source for my inspiration. At least I think I am going to. So in my dream I saw myself just driving towards the sunset and I was listening to the music from the NIGHTS EP. I woke up and thought to myself, I can turn this EP into a short film. I will shoot, edit and then I can score it which will hopefully be the easy part. I told my wife about it and she got really excited. I'm so grateful to have her love and support. That day I wrote the whole story and philosophy of my character in the park while I watched the ducks scatter around looking for food and I couldn't be more excited. I then told my friend about it a couple days later and asked him to play the main character and he was totally stoked to do it. All of a sudden I felt so motivated and inspired to make this film.

Now what's really funny is that I am at a STARBUCKS right now writing this as I wait for my car to get fixed. I just finished writing the whole outline to the film and I think I'm going to spend the rest of the day focusing on the screenplay. I always see people at starbucks working on screenplays and I never thought I'd be doing it. One of my good friends works here and I told him about the short film and he got really stoked about it and it's gotten me even more fired up that I thought I share with you this whole process with me.

I'm grateful to have such a lovely and supporting wife, wonderful family, and awesome friends, and when I say friends, I mean all of you who are reading this. Sure maybe we've never met but there's a friendship through music that I truely feel. I am very fortunate to have all of you supporting me and I hope you all have a wonderful day
